🏈 A Rivalry Returns to Superdome 20 Years Later

MNF Props and the Cy Young favorite takes the mound in Tampa tonight

Tampa Bay drew first blood in this ALDS with a 1-0 win, as Drew Rasmussen carried a no hit bid into the eighth before Austin Wells finally broke it up. Tonight, the Yankees turn to their ace, and the Rays counter with a pitcher who might be just as hot.

Cam Schlittler is the likely AL Cy Young winner after posting a 1.95 ERA and 239 strikeouts. He's been even nastier away from the Bronx, leading MLB with a 1.16 road ERA while holding hitters to a .153 average. Tampa's top bats have been helpless against him, with Yandy Díaz 2 for 13 and Jonathan Aranda striking out in six of nine trips.

Freddy Peralta is a different pitcher since leaving the Mets. After a 4.99 ERA in New York, he's posted a 3.25 ERA with Tampa, won AL Pitcher of the Month with a 0.96 September ERA, and owns a 1.69 ERA over his last four home starts. A heavier dose of changeups has been the difference. The red flag is October: his teams are 1-8 in his nine career playoff appearances an 1-3 when he starts.

The lineups tell the rest. New York ranks second in homers but 26th in batting average, and Aaron Judge remains off the roster with a calf strain. Tampa leads baseball in average, its pitching staff issues the fewest walks, and its bullpen is fully rested after Rasmussen's eight innings in Game 1.

Schlittler also poked the bear before the series, suggesting Tropicana Field wouldn't feel like a road game. A towel waving crowd of over fourty-thousand answered that in Game 1.

Prediction: Rays win Game 2. Schlittler has been the better pitcher, but Peralta's recent form, especially at home, and a fresh bullpen makes the plus odds price on Tampa great value for tonight.

🏈 20th Anniversary Since the “Domecoming” Game

Atlanta wins with defense. The Falcons rank 10th in defensive DVOA and first against the run, allowing just 2.75 yards per carry and zero rushing touchdowns. The offense is another story. Bijan Robinson leads the league with 467 scrimmage yards, but the passing attack ranks 28th and has thrown a league worst six interceptions.

New Orleans is the mirror image. The Saints run more plays and throw more passes than anyone, but their defense ranks 29th in DVOA and will be without Carl Granderson, Kaden Elliss, and Anfernee Jennings. Expect it to stay close, as 39 meetings since 1991 have been decided by eight points or fewer.

Shough leads the NFL in attempts and completions, averaging 305.67 yards per game and clearing this line in four of his last five. The Saints have trailed at halftime in all three games, and with Atlanta shutting down the run, there's little reason for them to change course. The market is catching on, too. He's drawing 23% of MVP bets this week, more than Josh Allen, and his price has shortened from +6600 to +2500.

Johnson has cleared this number in each of his last five games and averaged 53.5 yards in two meetings with Atlanta. He ranks sixth among tight ends with 173 yards and second in red zone targets, a clear sign Shough trusts him when it matters. The Falcons allow 283.67 passing yards per game (26th) and just lost A.J. Terrell Jr. to IR. If the Saints throw 40 times again, Johnson gets his looks.

This is the riskiest of the three. Kamara has averaged just nine carries in two games, and Atlanta is the toughest run defense in football. But Travis Etienne Jr.'s move to IR frees up work, and Kamara edged Kendre Miller in touches 10 to 6 when they shared the backfield last week. During a three game stretch last season when both were healthy, Kamara held the edge in carries, 33 to 29.

⭐️ Don’t Bet on Bijan to Score Once Tonight

Bijan is the most likely player on the field to score tonight. The question is whether you want to pay for it.

The anytime touchdown price shows how confident the market is. The best number is -209 at Caesars, and every major book is offering negative expected value. That's a steep premium.

Robinson has already proven he can score twice, punching in two touchdowns on 29 carries for 194 yards against Green Bay last week. He's scored in three straight games, averages 22 carries per game (third among backs), and has five carries inside the 5. Add 5.33 pass targets per game and he has two separate routes to the end zone.

The Saints are an ideal opponent. They allow 128.7 rushing yards and 27.7 points per game, and the Raiders just ran for 148 yards against them. Now they have a depleted front facing a running back averaging 155.67 scrimmage yards per game.

Atlanta's offense also looked like a different unit last week, piling up 498 yards with Michael Penix Jr. back under center. More trips into scoring range means more goal line chances, and Robinson is the obvious finisher.

The best price is +300 on Polymarket, with Kalshi close behind at +285. If you're sticking to traditional sportsbooks, DraftKings leads at +265. Two scores isn't the likeliest outcome, but at triple your money against this defense, it’s the outcome worth chasing.
