🏀 Only Two Teams Fit the Championship Profile
WNBA Title odds, NFC South season preview, and high-scoring MLB games
Six teams have won titles this decade, and three measurements keep separating them: offensive rating, defensive rating, and pace. Four of those six led the league in offense. Nearly all of them finished top four defensively. Only two clubs this season check two of those three boxes, and neither is Las Vegas.
WNBA Champions: Minnesota Lynx at -125
The Lynx own the league's best record at 31-7 and enter the FIBA World Cup break on a six game run, having held the top seed essentially wire to wire. Their 104.5 defensive rating ranks third, and the offense sits comfortably above average, which is exactly the shape of a modern champion.
Napheesa Collier missed a significant stretch and the record barely moved, largely because rookie Olivia Miles turned into someone who can create her own shot. The Lynx haven’t won a title since 2017, faced a semifinal exit to Phoenix a year ago, and a Finals loss to New York in 2024. This roster is deeper than any of those teams.
Indiana at +850
The other team fitting the historical profile is Indiana. The Fever rank second in pace at 99.4 with an offense that plays like it, and three of the six champions this decade finished top three in tempo. Caitlin Clark is at 22.1 points and 8.3 assists on the season, climbing to 25.4 and 9.1 over her last fifteen games while shooting 42.4% from deep. Kelsey Mitchell is putting up 24.8 on 45.5% from three. Their defense ranks 11th at 108.6, which could be a problem in a playoff setting.
Las Vegas sits at +475 with A'ja Wilson chasing a fifth MVP. Wilson or Jackie Young has led them in scoring in 31 of 37 games. That is not depth. That is a two person offense carrying the team around them. While they’re defending champs, a repeat championship seems unlikely.

🏈 NFC South Season Win Totals
Atlanta is the one team here where the roster improved and the price is still plus money. Last season produced 8-9 with a -48 point differential, 19th in total DVOA, and a passing game that ranked 28th in completion percentage, 29th on third down, and 26th in passing touchdowns with 19. They scored 20.76 points per game, 24th in the league.
So why the Over? Those eight wins came with bottom five quarterback play and a head coach since replaced by Kevin Stefanski, who brings Tommy Rees to call plays, Bill Callahan to run the line, and far better talent than he ever had in Cleveland.
The skill group is locked up. Bijan Robinson signed for three years and $66.8 million after leading the NFL with 2,298 scrimmage yards and 11 touchdowns. Drake London got four years and $141 million after 68 catches for 919 yards in 12 games, and Kyle Pitts landed the richest three year tight end deal ever off an 88 catch, second team All Pro season. Those three took 235 receptions, more than 70% of the team's completions, and Stefanski's system leans on tight ends and backs in the pass game.
The quarterback room is unsettled but cheap. Tua Tagovailoa signed for the minimum after Miami absorbed a record $99.2 million in dead money, and prediction markets had him at a 78% chance to start Week 1 but Michael Penix Jr. is working back from a November ACL tear with 12 career starts and could get the week 1 start.
The defense is the real concern. Jalon Walker tore his ACL in camp, James Pearce Jr. is suspended eight games, and David Onyemata, Kaden Elliss, and Arnold Ebiketie all left. A unit that ranked second with 57 sacks now leans on a 33 year old Za'Darius Smith. Even so, the division is soft and the final three games are all division matchups. Over 7.5 if they can stay healthy.

🤯 An aggregate lead this big is as safe as it gets. This night will be talked about for generations in Austria.
🏫 The SEC and Big Ten are swiftly passing new rules. They’re not playing around anymore.
🏈 Bad luck for Giants fans. The last thing they need is another star player missing an entire season.

⚾️ Wednesday Night’s High-Scoring MLB Games
🔥 Rays at Tigers Over 8.0
Freddy Peralta is not fooling anybody. Fifty runs and a dozen homers in his last 52 innings works out to roughly a run every time he takes the mound for another frame. His strikeouts are down to 8.6 per nine, the lowest of his career, with 1.5 homers and 3.6 walks stacked on top of a 5.33 ERA. He has handled this Detroit roster before at a .294 wOBA, but 46 plate appearances collected over several years do not outweigh what he has been all summer.
Troy Melton's 1.60 ERA invites the opposite trap. A 3.84 FIP and 7.6 strikeouts per nine say he has been living well, and Detroit's bats have averaged 5.2 runs since the break, second best in the American League. Comerica nudges toward offense at 101 overall and 102 for runs, so nothing here works against you.
🔥Rockies at Nationals Over 9.5
Take the worst pitching staff in baseball and drop it into one of the better places to hit. That’s what we have again tonight. Colorado is last in runs allowed at 766, last in ERA at 5.59, last in WHIP at 1.53, and near the bottom in homers surrendered at 181. Their opponent leads the sport in both runs scored and home runs.
Nationals Park does its part at 103 overall with a 106 runs factor. The overlooked half is Colorado's own lineup, seventh in runs and fourth in OPS at .738, drawing Matt Waldron, who has been battered by these hitters to the tune of a .461 wOBA. Both dugouts can score plenty tonight.
🔥Astros at Yankees Over 9.5
The Bronx carries a 117 home run factor and Peter Lambert has already proven what happens against this lineup. A .393 average and .571 slugging across 32 career trips, Bellinger four for 11 with one over the wall. Houston's staff ranks 25th in runs allowed, and New York sits second in baseball with 179 homers.
