Buffalo's new stadium got a proper welcome party. The Bills beat Detroit 41-31 to christen the new Highmark Stadium, and Josh Allen made sure the record books noticed.

Allen scored the venue's first ever regular season touchdown on a first quarter sneak, then piled up three passing touchdowns with his two on the ground for his sixth career five touchdown game. That second rushing score also moved him into a tie for 18th all time in rushing touchdowns among every player in NFL history, not just quarterbacks. The win also gave him 90 career victories, making him just the fourth quarterback ever to hit that number within his first nine seasons.

The Bills backed him up with a dominant, balanced attack. Buffalo raced to a 21-0 lead before the second quarter hit the midway point, finishing with 446 yards and 27 points in the first half alone. James Cook ran for 135 yards as part of a rushing attack that piled up over 200 yards as a team, and Buffalo was perfect in the red zone while forcing Detroit into a rough third down day. Neither team turned the ball over.

The 41 points mark the third highest total ever scored in a team's regular season stadium debut, trailing only Dallas and Miami. It also continues a strong start for first year head coach Joe Brady, who becomes the first coach in franchise history to open his Bills tenure 2-0. His 77 combined points through two games ranks fourth all time for a coach's first two games in the Super Bowl era.

Week 1 delivered the most points ever scored in an opening slate, and Week 2 looks primed to keep pace with a card featuring grudge matches and coaching duels.

🏈 David Montgomery vs Cincinnati

Bengals at Texans is the game I’m circling first. Houston's defense got shredded by Josh Allen in the opener, allowing a passer rating north of 140 on non-blitz snaps, while Cincinnati's offense scored 33 points even with Ja'Marr Chase barely showing up. If Chase bounces back against a secondary that just allowed nearly 12 yards per attempt, this becomes a shootout. Cincinnati's defense also forced four fumbles in Week 1, a trend that could send the total score sky high despite sitting at 45.5.

David Montgomery has already cleared this exact number the last time he faced Cincinnati, and he's running into the league's worst run defense from a season ago behind a Texans offense that went 7-0 when it hits 120 rushing yards as a team.

🏈 Caleb Williams vs Minnesota

Vikings at Bears pits Ben Johnson's top ranked offense against Brian Flores, who blitzed at a staggering 78% rate in Week 1. Chicago just dropped 59 points in the highest scoring opener in league history, and Minnesota's pass defense looks shaky after allowing over 400 yards through the air. The total has already climbed toward 49.

Caleb Williams has hit this passing touchdown prop in every one of his last eight starts, and facing the NFL's 31st ranked pass defense makes that trend easy to trust again.

🏈 Breece Hall vs Green Bay

Packers at Jets is a fun toss-up. That’s a phrase I did not expect to be saying just two weeks ago. Green Bay is mired in a six game losing streak and dealing with real coaching pressure, while New York is 1-0 for the first time since 2018 behind a run heavy, ball control approach that leaned hard on the ground game to close out its opener.

That approach points straight to Breece Hall rushing attempts. He handled nearly 40% of the Jets' offensive plays in the opener and touched the ball on every red zone rushing attempt, and this coaching staff's entire game plan is built around keeping the ball on the ground and Jordan Love off the field. Hall finished week 1 with 22 attempts and almost 5 yards/carry. Their best chance of starting 2-0 this season begins with handing him the ball.

🏈 Dak Prescott vs Washington

Cowboys vs Commanders closes out the marquee window as an 0-1 early season desperation game. Dallas gets a Washington run defense that was carved up last week for 136 yards, and both offenses have real weapons that should keep the total score near the top of the Sunday slate.

Dak Prescott has scored multiple passing touchdowns in each of his last two meetings with Washington, and a Commanders secondary that just got torched for explosive plays against Philadelphia gives CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens plenty of room to work. Dak had five pass attempts in the Red Zone in week 1 and completed all five of them.

🏈 Top Red Zone Target to Record a Touchdown

One of the top touchdown bet on Sunday's card is Chase Brown, still at plus odds but moving towards minus odds quickly.

The usage tells you everything you need to know. Brown touched the ball 21 times in Week 1, and five of his sixteen carries came in the red zone, with three coming from inside the five yard line. That ranks him among the top handful of backs in football in both categories. When Cincinnati gets close, he's the one getting the ball, and his six targets out of the backfield give him a second path to the end zone through the air.

Houston's defense got carved up in Week 1, ranking near the bottom of the league in overall efficiency and allowing scores on well over half of their opponent's drives. Their run defense itself held up reasonably well, but the issue is what happens once teams reach scoring range. Houston struggled badly to keep Buffalo out of the end zone once they get close, and Cincinnati's offense scored on two thirds of its drives in the opener and look equally as dangerous.

Joe Burrow is questionable, and if he's out, this entire offense loses steam. But all signs point to him playing, and if he does, expect another heavy dose of red zone work for Brown against a defense that simply can't get stops when it matters most.
