🏈 Week 2 Came Down to the Final Kick

College and NFL thrillers show how thin the margin really is.

There is nothing like the drama of a close game coming down to the final play. The noise from the crowd. The frantic gestures from coaching staff. The make or break moment, hero or zero.

This week there were no shortage of such moments. Georgia Tech knocked off No. 12 Clemson with a dramatic 55-yard field goal by Aidan Birr. Spencer Schrader did the same for the Colts after a Denver Broncos penalty erased his initial missed kick.

The Tennessee Volunteers had a chance to win in regulation, but a false start pusher their FG attempt back which ultimately sailed wide. Georgia would go on to kick a game winner of their own in OT.

Moments like these are why we watch. Whether it’s a kicker redeeming himself to win a game or a single penalty flipping the outcome, the margin for error is razor thin. Week 2 reminded us that the line between heartbreak and history often comes down to just one play.

👑 Who Rose, Who Fell, and Who Held Firm

Every NFL Sunday leaves us with teams that soared, stumbled, and stayed steady. Week 2 was no different. Let’s look past the final scores and see who won or lost the week.

📈 Overperformer: Seattle Seahawks

Seattle v Pittsburgh Recap

👆️ View Advanced Metrics

The Seahawks came into Week 2 desperate to shake off a 17-13 loss to the 49ers. Their defense was solid in the opener, but the offense sputtered. As a team they accounted for only 230 yards of offense, 23 yards per drive.

Yesterday’s road performance was exactly the response they needed. After struggling to find the endzone last week, the Seahawks lit it up this week with 31 points and 395 yards of offense. The defense forced Rodgers from a four-TD opener to just 17 points at home.

This kind of turnaround makes Seattle the easy pick for the weekend’s biggest overperformance.

📉 Underperformer: Minnesota Vikings

Falcons v Vikings Recap

The Vikings’ offense was a mess from start to finish. They put up just 6 points on 198 total yards, failed to score a single touchdown, and went 4-of-11 on third down. Their rushing attack managed only 78 yards, and J.J. McCarthy was sacked six times while throwing two picks and losing a fumble.

Four turnovers and no red-zone conversions is about as bad as it gets.

The defense didn’t bail them out, either. Minnesota gave up 218 rushing yards, including 143 to Bijan Robinson alone, and allowed Atlanta to control the ball for over 36 minutes

On Track: Indianapolis Colts

Colts v Broncos Recap

Daniel Jones seemed to be written off as a potential starting quarterback, but has already piled up nearly 600 total yards and TDs in back-to-back games. Add in Jonathan Taylor and their offense looks balanced and dangerous.

On defense, they opened with a 33-8 demolition of Miami, scoring on every possession, and just followed it up with a gritty home win over Denver. Jones was only sacked one time each game and the Colts have yet to commit a turnover of any kind.

The colts look firmly on track.

🔥 Monday Night Football Player Props

Baker Mayfield and the Bucs are riding high after a clutch divisional win, while C.J. Stroud and the Texans are desperate to bounce back from a rough opener. Houston’s secondary will test Tampa’s passing attack, and the Bucs’ run defense could make life tough without Joe Mixon.

Baker Mayfield Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+118)

Baker Mayfield is rolling after tossing 3 TDs in Week 1, and he looks primed to keep it going against a Texans defense that gave up nearly 2 passing scores per game last season. That works out favorably for the +118 odds being offered over at FanDuel.

Mike Evans Over 4.5 Receptions (-150)

His favorite weapon? Mike Evans feels strong. Evans has gone over this number in five straight games, and Houston’s 27th-ranked defense vs. WRs gives him a clear edge.

Justin Herbert has owned the Raiders in his career with 21 TDs, 2 INTs in nine games. He enters Monday night leading a Chargers offense that exploded in Week 1 with 422 yards. The Raiders put up plenty of yards themselves but struggled to run the ball and gave up 287 passing yards to New England.

Ladd McConkey Over 73.5 Receiving Yards (-111)

Herbert’s new go-to guy has cleared this number in 4 of his last 5 games, including 74 yards last week against the Chiefs. With the Raiders ranking 24th vs. WRs, McConkey’s volume and big-play ability make him a strong bet to keep rolling.

Tyler Conklin Over 16.5 Receiving Yards (-102)

Conklin Receiving Yards

Don’t overlook Conklin. He went for 50 yards in Week 1 and has hit this number in 5 of his last 6 games. Against a Raiders defense that struggles with tight ends (26th vs. the position), this low line feels like a steal.

Justin Herbert Over 3.5 Rushing Attempts (-150)

Herbert Rush Attemts

Herbert’s legs are becoming a reliable part of L.A.’s offense. He ran 7 times last week and has gone over this mark in 8 of his last 10 games. With the Raiders likely forcing him to move, expect a few scrambles to push him past this line again.
